MIDDLE SCHOOL STEM/SCIENCE COORDINATOR AND TEACHER

Bellesini Academy is a small independent Catholic middle school dedicated to providing a quality scholarship education to students from limited financial means living in Lawrence. The mission of the school is to provide an academically challenging and highly structured environment that develops the potential for each student to succeed in competitive secondary schools and colleges. Bellesini Academy is a co-institutional school serving 60 boys and 60 girls in single-sex classrooms.

Bellesini Academy utilizes a proven model of education that specifically addresses the needs of at-risk students who live below the poverty line. We provide small classes, rigorous curriculum, after-school sports and clubs, supervised homework time, and a four-week summer program. These integrated components ensure that each student is prepared for entrance to a college preparatory high school. Our students gain an average of two grade levels each year in language arts and math, and our graduating classes have been offered over $24M in four-year scholarships to preparatory high schools. 100% of our alumni graduate from High School and 97% attend college, trade school, or the military.

Bellesini Academy is seeking a full-time Science teacher/STEM Coordinator. Responsibilities include teaching 2 periods of 7th grade Science and 2 periods of 8th grade Science and coordinating STEM Activities for the school community. Bellesini Academy recently received a grant to build a STEM Lab and Curriculum. This is a great opportunity to be on the ground level to build a STEM Program and integrate it into Science classes as well as the full school.

Responsibilities include:
• Teach 4 classes;
  • Work with administration to build a STEM Center and redesign curriculum;
    • Assume a high level of personal responsibility for the progress of all students;
    • Create academically rigorous lesson plans, materials, and assessments;
    • Incorporate technology into daily lesson activities;
    • Work as part of a school team by implementing school-wide systems, structures and procedures;
    • Participate in various aspects of the school culture, programs, duties, and staff meetings; and
    • Maintain accurate records and grades for students using an online grade book program and document curriculum using an online mapping tool.

Academy is a tuition-free independent Catholic middle school dedicated to providing a quality scholarship education to boys and girls from low income families living in Lawrence. The mission of the school is to provide an academically challenging and highly structured environment that develops the potential for each student to succeed in competitive secondary schools and colleges. Bellesini Academy serves 105 students in grades 5 through 8.

    Bellesini Academy utilizes a proven model of education that specifically addresses the needs of at-risk students who live below the poverty line.     Job Requirements

    • Passionate and committed to the School's mission and vision;
    • Proven ability to integrate technology into the curriculum;
      • Commitment to using data-driven instruction;
      • Team player;
      • Undergraduate degree in Education or Science (prefer Master's Degree); and
      • 2+ years of teaching or related experience preferred.
    • At least 2 yearsof relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
