    ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT & EMPLOYEE RELATIONS SPECIALIST

    Employee relations is part of personnel management or human resources. Many organizations require employee relations officers as advisors on specific areas of employment law, to negotiate during union or employee disputes and to ensure the wider workforce is aware of company policies and procedures.

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Maintaining employment policies.
    • Managing employment tribunal cases.
    • Managing disciplinary issues such as long-term absences.
    • Advising the HR team and administrators regarding employee relations issues and maintaining good relations.
    • Consulting with trade unions.
    • Create and implement programs at work that connect employees with educational business goals.
    • Consult with management and other leadership to identify business processes.
    • Identify and evaluate business initiatives to ascertain appropriate programs that meet the school district's goals.
    • Develop methods for data file formatting, data analysis methodologies, and management reporting.
    • Create effective strategic planning methods with Director of Human Resources.
    • Work collaboratively with Director of Human Resources to organize and update employee HR files with goals, objectives and SWOT analysis.
    • Overseeing employee orientation and training in the absence of Director of Human Resources.
    • Implement organizational effectiveness interventions.
    • Create competency models.
    • Develop team-building exercises and workshops.
    • Help employees create project timelines and deadlines.
    • Talk with management to identify specific work situations requiring employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies.
    • Develop methods of measuring if performance management aligns with organizational goals.
    • Develops and aligns job descriptions with roles and responsibilities with Director of Human Resources, Legal Counsel and Union leadership, if and when deemed appropriate.
    • Resolve conflict within groups.
    • Diagnose potential organizational problem areas.
    • Recommend training and development systems.
    • Create definitions of desired individual or group performance.
    • Develop two-way communication channels to foster on-going organizational change.
    • Coordinate overall change programs.
    • Provide on-going change advise to leadership.
    • Coordinate project teams for development of processes, procedures and policies.
    • Ensuring that changes are incorporated into the appropriate project documents.
    • Coaching/Mentoring organizational change management training, learning & development.
    • Provide support to staff employees and supervisors regarding policies and procedures, work related issues, mediation and conflict resolution, disciplinary process and grievance process.
    • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.


    WORK ACTIVITIES

    • Maintaining labor and employment policies.
    • Managing employment grievances/arbitration cases.
    • Managing issues such as long-term absence.
    • Advising the HR team in dealing with employee relations issues and maintaining good relations.
    • Consulting with collective bargaining unions.
    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
    • Demonstrated knowledge of employee & labor relations as well as union contractual agreements
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills
    • Management & Leadership Training Experience
    • Excellent problem-solving ability
    REQUIREMENTS :
    • Juris Doctorate;
    • Preferred Educational Leadership or similar with years of experience with a Master's or above, or SPHR.
    • Possess a Connecticut Driver's License
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    Unaffiliated, but follows ESG contract
    Annual Salary Range: $80,000-$150,000 based on education & experience
    Benefits Eligible: Medical/Dental/Vision
