POSITION SUMMARY

The virtual Middle School Music Teacher will utilize strategies and theories to plan, organize and implement structured lessons to provide instruction for students that enables them to learn and achieve.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Instructs students through lectures, discussions, visual aids, and other effective teaching methods for student comprehension
  • Prepares lessons and outlines to use in class that effectively cover the material
  • Administers the state and local standardized testing processes and policies
  • Plans, prepares and implements online instructional activities and strategies that contribute to a climate where students actively engage in meaningful learning experiences
  • Identifies, selects and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles and special needs, using data and findings from assessments, observations, and course statistics
  • Provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process
  • Provides clear expectations and prompt responses to student and parent questions and concerns
  • Administers various types of assessments to monitor student's comprehension of content in an online environment
  • Monitors students in the virtual classroom by maintaining order and discipline
  • Performs various administrative duties virtually such as taking attendance, organizing the classroom, and recording grades
  • Coordinates parent/teacher conferences to review student's performance, behavior and other issues
  • Attends faculty meetings and training sessions
  • Integrates social emotional learning (SEL) within the curriculum
  • Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator
  • Required to have prompt and regular attendance for scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated


Requirements :

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree required

Master's, Specialist, Doctorate degree preferred

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
  • Must hold or be eligible to hold a valid Georgia Teaching Certification
  • Completion of online teaching course within first 10 days of employement

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Online teaching experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of virtual initiatives such as blended learning models and innovative online learning programs to increase student learning opportunities

Knowledge of curriculum and instructional best practices for online learning

Ability to use a variety of differentiated and engaging strategies when delivering online instruction

Knowledge of elementary school reading programs

Ability to use emerging online learning tools to enhance online instruction

Demonstrates proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, Google Suite which includes Google Classroom, Drive, Docs and Sheets

Exhibit knowledge of standards-based curriculum and instructional programs and practices at the elementary level


Compensation :

Salary Grade: T4 Bachelor - T7 Doctorate

Salary Range: FY'23 APS Salary Schedule (All Positions)

Work Year: 202 Days
