Job Summary:

The Learning Lab Project Manager will serve as a school-based educator, developer and support person with innovative instructional technology and IT support in regards to the Verizon Innovation Learning Initiative. Learning Lab Managers will create school-wide and classroom environments that are conducive to 21st century learners, create and lead professional learning opportunities for educators, staff and families pertaining to the effective use of the Innovative Learning Initiative and activities that enhance scholar achievement. They will also create and run computer science elective courses and projects for Propel scholars.

Key Job Elements:

1. Creates a 21st century learning environment involving the use of Verizon Innovative Learning Initiative and all technology involved.
2. Advises and plans with educators to develop and teach engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that incorporate technology and include research-based best practices
3. Reports to lead administrative team about classroom goals, support and monthly initiatives
4. Supports the use of instructional technology to engage students and provide 24/7 access to digital information resources for the school community and family community.
5. Provides basics IT support for Learning Lab and Verizon IPads
6. Assesses, promotes and uses existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning and connect the school with the global learning community
7. Supports the effective use of instructional technology, including digital communication and collaboration tools
8. Maintains and manages grade level appropriate digital and print resources and ensures materials are accurately cataloged and circulated using Google Suite Platform
9. Helps select materials for the school and its program which support the goals and curriculum of the school and ensures materials are accessible to students, educators and families using Google Suite Platform
10. Instructs school community and families on how to locate, access, and evaluate appropriate information in various technology formats
11. Collaborates with administrators, educators and Propel curriculum leaders to create and maintain a collection of quality instructional materials and educational resources in all content areas that are relevant to and supportive of the school curriculum (with approval of Propel curriculum leaders) and the Verizon Initiative
12. Attends all required professional development throughout the year including summer months.
13. Creates and provides professional learning sessions with school staff to effectively integrate technology and establishes professional learning experiences for the school community to increase knowledge of technology resources and instructional activities. Professional development will occur during the school year, summer months, and before and after traditional school hours.
14. Writes and digitally distributes monthly digital newsletters to support educators and families
15. Plans bi-weekly with Director of Scholar Opportunities and Computer Science Coordinator
16. Coordinates needs with Director of IT
17. Coaches educators to assist with differentiating instruction using technology
18. Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Qualifications & Skills:

1. Education: Master's Degree preferred; Degree in Instructional Technology preferred
2. Certification/Licensure: Must hold an active PA Teaching Certificate; Business, Computer and Information Technology Certification preferred
3. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of classroom experience and/or experience working with technology in a classroom environment is preferred; experience working with grades 6-8 preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

1. Ability to select and manage resources while supporting the instructional program
2. Knowledge of basic programming including JavaScript and Python
3. In Depth experience with 3D Printing, AR/VR, Raspberry Pi, and media equipment
4. Ability to use and integrate technology as needed in the performance of all duties and responsibilities
5. Experience with development and execution of professional development
6. Ability to handle basic IT operations and educator and family support including App selection of iPads
7. Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate quality instruction and programs for scholars
8. Knowledge of the curriculum, instructional methods, and goals of the school
9. Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
10. Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
11. Proficient with the use of Google Suite Platform
12. Exceptional knowledge of educational software and web-based applications
13. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
14. Exceptional organization skills required

Physical Demands:

Must be able to move around the classroom at least 75% of the time while engaging with scholars.

The person in this position constantly operates a computer and other technology in the classroom to support instruction.

The person in this position frequently communicates with various internal and external stakeholders regarding curriculum, instruction and assessment. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
