Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy is seeking is seeking a highly motivated Dean of Students in Colorado Springs, CO dedicated to creating a rigorous and nurturing environment that prioritizes student engagement and achievement for all students.

At Banning Lewis Ranch, we serve students in Grades K-5. Highlights include our Capturing Kid's Hearts Program, Celebration of Learning Nights, 5th Grade Capstone Field Trip to Washington DC, and a well-rounded student schedule that includes Spanish, Art, PE, Music & Technology.

At Banning Lewis Prep, we serve students in Grades 6-12. We carefully transition students into Middle School with purposeful social activities and programs as LEAD our leadership development program, sports through the Central Colorado Athletic League, and numerous clubs and electives. In High School, we offer traditions such as Homecoming, Prom, and Student Senate. We focus on Concurrent Enrollment opportunities, Service Learning Projects, Senior Capstone Projects, and college and career readiness (such as online courses, career & technical business programs, foreign exchange program opportunities and much more. At the High School level, our athletes compete in the Tri-Peaks League and have many additional extracurricular opportunities such as Mock Trial, Jazz & Concert Band, National Honor Society, and more.

The Dean of Students is crucial to their success.

*This position will be based onsite in Colorado Springs. We are looking for someone available to start immediately*

The Dean will assume ownership and responsibility for developing and supporting the school by:
  • Leading Staff and Students in schoolwide Positive Behavior Interventions and Support Programming.
  • Disciplinary leader 6-12 grade focusing on Restorative Practices, conflict resolution and community partnerships.
  • Leading Assemblies geared at gaining collective teacher and student efficacy in regard to culture.
  • Oversee attendance and truancy operations aligning with Colorado compulsory attendance laws and partnering with local agencies to enforce policy.

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, Master's preferred
  • Active professional teacher certification
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a successful teacher
  • Two years' experience as an Instructional Coach, Teacher Leader, or other related position strongly preferred
  • Track record of building positive working relationships with multiple stakeholders including staff members, students, parents, Board members, and authorizers
  • Demonstrated results in increasing student achievement on relevant state test measures
  • Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards
  • Experience using multiple sources of data collection including standardized tests, portfolios, observations, conferences and grades to assess student performance and to plan instruction
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills that reflect professionalism and tact at all times
  • Computer literacy and proficiency
  • Attention to detail
  • Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks
  • Experience in an urban and/or school turnaround setting is a plus
  • Ability to work well under pressure as well as effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently
  • Understanding of and ability to manage confidential information
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills

Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary will begin at $50,000 and is commensurate with experience.
