NOTICE OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The Elma School District is accepting applications for the following classified position:

Kitchen Helper/Dishwasher/Server

4 hours a day / 5 days a week / 190 days per year
11:00 - 12:30 pm / Elma Elementary
12:45 - 3:00 pm / Elma High School

In accordance with Governor Inslee's Proclamation 21-14.1 (Vaccination Requirement), employment with the Elma School District requires full vaccination against Covid-19 or an approved medical or religious exemption that can be accommodated.

Job Goal: Assist in the preparation and serving of food in a sanitary, friendly environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a High School diploma or GED
• WSP/FBI background and fingerprint clearance (fee paid by the employee)
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work with a team and communicate with supervisor, administrators, staff, students, parents, and the community with tact and diplomacy
• Must be flexible, caring; have respect for others, and sense of humor. Will consciously model the values of trust and integrity while also being a positive role model for children
• Must have the ability to interact with children, staff, parents and the community in a warm confident manor
• Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
• The safety and health of students and others is an essential function of this position

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and serve food as assigned by the Head Cook
• Operate kitchen equipment
• Restock serving area as needed
• Maintain portion control
• Clean kitchen and serving areas
• Wash pots, pans, and utensils, etc.
• Clean meat slicer, braiser, steam kettle and other equipment
• Follow all safety rules and regulations
• Cross train with other food service workers
• Maintain dishwasher machine and report any mechanical faults to supervisor
• Perform other and related tasks as assigned by the Head Cook or Supervisor

Specific Duties:

• Before beginning work always tie back hair or wear a hair net. Wash hands before beginning shift and continue to wash hands through the day to avoid cross-contamination.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and will be lifting items from overhead.
• Must work around hot stoves, ovens and steam table.
• Will use knives for chopping, peeling, cutting, etc.
• The kitchen environment may at times be noisy and the kitchen helper must be able to work efficiently, and maintain a professional demeanor while under the stress of making deadlines.
