The Role:
The Special Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating Cambridge Public School's continuous management of COVID. This work is done in close partnership with district leadership, the Cambridge Public Health Department, and stakeholders across the school district.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor developments in federal, state, local guidance
  • Facilitate COVID-19 decision making, workflow and communication around COVID-19 related issues, including:
    • Proactively monitor district data, protocols and responses and initiate decision-making as needed based on changes in policy or public health conditions
    • Facilitate regular COVID-19 meetings between CPS and CPHD and COVID-19 Working Group meetings, as needed
    • Keep Chief Operating Officer, Deputy Superintendent, Superintendent and Executive Leadership Team informed of emerging issues, concerns, decisions
    • Serve as primary liaison to Cambridge Public Health Department on issues of COVID-19
    • Serve as resource to administrators on implementation of protocols
  • Develop, maintain, and update COVID documents and materials
    • Facilitate updates to COVID-related content, including website, family-friendly protocol documents, communication templates, training materials and checklists for staff, signage
    • Coordinate with Communications department on dissemination and outreach strategy
    • Coordinate with relevant departments on communication of protocols to external parties utilizing CPS facilities, afterschool partners, and summer programs housed in CPS facilities
    • Prepare updates for School Committee and the public, as needed
  • Support implementation of COVID testing program
    • Oversee purchasing and inventory management of testing supplies
    • Coordinate contact tracing and case reporting, as needed in accordance with state, local, and district policies
    • Coordinate CPS aspects of city- or district-sponsored vaccine clinics
  • Coordinate collection and reporting of COVID-related data
    • Oversee CPS public data reporting, including analysis and reports
    • Collaborate with technical departments to design and implement of student and staff data collection processes related to vaccinations, testing consent, and cases management:
    • Train school-based on use of tools to collect information from families
  • Coordinate COVID-related awareness and outreach campaigns and activities
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer or Designee
Education and Related Work Experience:
Required: Bachelor's degree in related field (Public Health, Nursing, Education)
The ideal candidate may also have:
  • A Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Communications or related field;
  • Experience working in school districts or public health systems; and
  • Experience supporting a school district or other educational or governmental institution in managing COVID response.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
The successful candidate has a genuine commitment to public health, experience in school district context, and demonstrated leadership, project management, and communication skills including the following:
  • Experience managing projects including group facilitation, timeline and task management, documentation management, and workflow coordination;
  • General familiarity with evolving COVID policies and protocols at the federal, state, and local levels;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and translating complex or technical information into accessible materials for various audiences;
  • Proficiency in data collection and reporting;
  • Ability to work rapidly when emergent conditions require immediate attention;
  • Ability to interact successfully with culturally diverse populations and individuals experiencing a wide range of social conditions; and
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) and/or Microsoft Office.
Cambridge Public Schools is committed to slowing and/or stopping the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, as a condition of employment with Cambridge Public Schools, all new hires will be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 no later than their first day of work.

Terms of Employment:
  • Reports to Chief Operating Officer
  • Grant funded position for 1-year, with possibility for extension.
  • Part-time, 12 Month work year, and 20 hours per week, with possibility of extended hours as needed.
  • Non-union.
