Graphic Designer, Professional Learning Design (12-Month Remote Contract)

Position Summary

The Graphic Designer is skilled in the development of instructional assets for adult learning. The person in this role takes design outlines for professional learning content and develops these into high-quality assets to facilitate a seamless learning experience. The Graphic Designer works collaboratively with content designers, subject matter experts and the Professional Learning Asset Team Manager to create engaging and dynamic assets that support new and existing Professional Learning offerings for onsite and online learning products. This 40-hour position reports to the Manager of the Professional Learning Design Asset Team.

Responsibilities

  • Leverages efficient design processes and effective collaboration to generate results
  • Ensures quality visual and brand alignment in the development of NWEA Professional Learning product assets in PDF, Power Point, and multimedia content
  • Employs quality assurance practices to ensure high quality results in products and projects
  • Collaborates with Professional Learning Design Content Managers, Coordinators, Designers, and Asset Team Manager to revise existing assets and produce new ones that meet or exceed market expectations and effectively address market needs
  • Collaborates with Professional Learning Design team members to develop workflows and timelines with milestones and deliverables
  • Communicates with Professional Learning Design team members to ensure that adequate resources are available to create and revise materials
  • Creates and revises graphics as needed for professional learning assets
  • Ensures that revised and new assets and materials are accurate and on schedule
  • Performs other work as assigned to ensure the success of the Professional Learning team and the entire organization

  • Ability to work effectively and manage the development of multiple projects in a fast-paced, growing organization
  • Ability to synthesize information and translate it visually for a variety of audiences
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of visual design approaches and recommend improvements
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member
  • Demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Suite for layout and graphic design
  • Demonstrated experience with making materials accessible and inclusive (logical reading order, alt tags, artifact tags)
  • Demonstrated experience designing presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint, including the design of master slide templates.

Education and Experience

  • BS/BA in graphic design, education or closely related field required
  • Two to four years of experience working in visual/graphic design field required
