    Job Description:
    LEARN is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented self-starter with problem solving skills and a team attitude to join our organization as Payroll Supervisor. This individual will report to the Chief Financial Officer and work closely with the Payroll Manager and Controller and will play a critical role in managing payroll operations and benefits compliance. This position will provide an opportunity to implement new and impactful initiatives.

    Responsibilities :
    • Working with the Payroll Manager, process and reconcile an accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll in UKG for 500+ employees across 11 campuses.
    • Manage time and attendance, providing oversight, training and support to all campuses. Play active role in identifying and implementing process improvements.
    • Comply with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
    • Administer the employee pension funds to ensure proper submissions, tracking and legal compliance with the Chicago Teachers Pension Fund (CTPF), the Illinois Teachers' Retirement System (TRS) and TIAA-CREF 403(b) Tax-Deferred Annuity Plan. Respond, research and investigate all audit requests.
    • Review and monitor payroll tax and benefits information, ensuring accurate quarterly and year-end reporting on all required forms (i.e. Form W-2 and 941s).
    • Partner with Human Resources to ensure accuracy and timeliness in managing all new hires, terminations, benefit deductions, reconciliations, salary changes and calculations of mandatory/voluntary end of service payments.
    • Work with external brokers, vendors and auditors to resolve payroll issues.
    • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports, including gross payroll, hours worked, tax deductions, and benefit deductions. Build and execute detailed payroll reports in response to internal and external data requests (i.e. TRS, CTPF, TIAA-CREF).
    • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
    • Partner with the Finance and Accounting teams to research and reconcile payroll transactions.
    • Compile and prepare data for annual 403(b) audit.
    • Participate in annual Forms 5500 and 990 filings.
    • Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures to ensure proper internal controls and process improvements.
    • Complete other projects as assigned.
    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business or related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience with payroll or related software systems; UKG and Paycom experience is a plus. Experience with payroll conversion a plus.
    • Familiarity with processing payroll for a multi-office and multi-state organization.
    • Experience administering 403b, 401k, and/or pension plan contributions.
    • Strong mathematical, analytical and technical skills.
    • Professional and technical knowledge of employee payroll and tax regulations in order to ensure payroll is processed accurately and in full compliance.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point and other computer skills required.
    • Strong organizational abilities with close attention to detail and precision.
    • Strong process orientation with an ability to set priorities, analyze and resolve problems and make decisions in a timely fashion.
    • Able to communicate status, issues, and payroll information clearly and effectively orally and in writing. Strong customer service focus, with an ability to interact congenially and effectively with a diverse network of employees, customers and vendors.
