Chappaqua CSD is looking for a dynamic and innovative educator to serve in the position of probationary Elementary Teacher
Essential Functions:
- Thorough knowledge of the NYS ELA Standards with a strong literacy background.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.
- Strong knowledge of reading and writing workshops and the TC Units of Study.
- Candidate should be proficient in project-based learning and differentiation of instruction.
- Willing and able to work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.
- Experience with social and emotional learning preferred.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.
- Encourages family involvement in students education and ensures effective communication with students and families.
- Required: NYS Childhood Education Gr. 1 - 6 Certification
- Preferred Additional Certifications: NYS Early Childhood Education Gr. B-2; NYS Student With Disabilities Gr. B-2 or Gr. 1 - 6
