Milton Hershey School (MHS) is seeking a Curriculum Supervisor (CS) of Science to provide vision, organization and leadership to MHS’s pre-K through 12th-grade science curriculum, instruction, and assessment.  The CS ensures the science curriculum is robust, career-focused, and vertically integrated; incorporating best practices to ensure MHS’s graduates are critical thinkers and well prepared for excelling in post-graduate studies, military service, or the world of work.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide first-line oversight and direction to MHS’s Pre-K-12th grade science curriculum. 
  • Review curriculum, research emerging best practices (particularly for students from lower income), make recommendations for enhancements & revise curriculum accordingly. 
  • Perform formal and informal observations and partner with the building principals in the supervision and evaluation of faculty. 
  • Analyze and interpret research and data to make decisions affecting curriculum, instructional practice, and departmental goals.  
  • Maintain knowledge of instructional best practices, new instructional programs and materials, and facilitate their use throughout the MHS academic program.  
  • Partner with the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment leadership team and Scholastic Administrators to ensure the curriculum aligns with MHS’s strategic plan, is well aligned from Pre-K-12th grade, integrates cross-curriculum where feasible, integrates technology, and ensures graduate readiness for post-graduation success.
  • Develop and conduct staff professional development that leads to improved teacher performance and increased student achievement.  
  • Provide expertise in data analysis which includes overseeing the design of classroom assessments and conducting comprehensive data analysis that leads to program improvement and/or validation. 
  • Collaborate extensively with Principals and Assistant Principals regarding teacher planning and development, instructional evaluation and enhancing instructional delivery, providing professional development training, assisting with faculty hiring, and creation of teacher schedules 
  • Assist in the development of STEM Integrations across divisions in collaboration with Principals and Director of Agricultural and Environmental Education and STEM.    

Qualifications:

  • State certification in Science required.  
  • Master’s degree required.  
  • Science Coaching experience or endorsement strongly preferred.  
  • Curriculum and Instruction Supervisory or Principal certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of exemplary science teaching experience required. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of administrative experience desired including supervising, professional development oversight, and data analysis leadership.
  • Extensive experience with PSSA’s, CDT’s and Keystone exams preferred including administration of assessments, comprehensive data analysis, and providing informed data-driven recommendations.
  • Proficiency with technology including instructional technology.  Advanced Excel or Google Suite skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including verbal, written and platform.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate, influence and lead.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including a proven ability to develop & implement strategic plans, manage projects, and multi-task competing priorities.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all MHS staff are considered role models for MHS students.
  • Candidates should be eager to actively engage with students.
