Job Description
Position Overview
Elementary Math Tutors support robust learning opportunities for elementary students as they transition back to full-time, in-person learning this school year and tackle unfinished learning in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Math Tutors support students in mastering math concepts and skills by leading instruction (using provided curricula) in small groups. Math Tutors are part-time employees who dedicate about 12.5 hours per week (1:00-3:30 daily) and they report directly to the Learning Extension Program Manager. This opportunity starts immediately and will run through mid-June 2023.

Key Responsibilities
● Provide high quality math tutoring to a subset of 3rdand 4thgraders during the school day in small groups

● Create a warm, welcoming, organized, and comfortable learning environment

● Provide general supervision and support for children, answering questions, offering guidance, and ensuring safety and security procedures are followed

● Implement provided lessons and approaches with fidelity

● Monitor and track student progress, including entering assessment and other learning data

● Attend and participate in a monthly team meeting and scheduled trainings throughout the year

● Communicate with the LEPM on a regular basis

● Adhere to KPPS policies and site-specific emergency protocols

● Other relevant duties as assigned by the LEPM

Qualifications & Credentials
  • Love and see the high potential of all children
  • Passion for seeing students learn and grow, and commitment to supporting students in tackling unfinishedlearning
  • Two or more years in school or youth-centered settings strongly preferred, either as a classroom teacher,instructional staff member, or before/after school personnel
  • Comfort and confidence with elementary math topics
  • Supremely organized and flexible (day to day operations may change)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with school staff
  • Reliability and dependability
  • Fluency with Google Suite
  • Complete all required criminal and child abuse background checks
    • PA State Police Clearance

    • Cogent Federal Fingerprinting
Additional Information
Compensation
  • Math Tutors with a high school diploma are compensated at $18.00 to $20.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
  • Math Tutors who are currently high school students are compensated at $15.00 per hour
