ADMINISTRATOR II, NETWORK

DEPARTMENT OF TECHNOLOGY SERVICES (DoTS)

Salary Range: $70,057 - $84,779

E ssential Functions and Objectives:

R esponsible for the functionality, support, and optimization of specific system, program, or process within the district. Applies subject matter expertise. Administers the day to day execution, maintenance, and change management of distinct areas of work to ensure business continuity. References tools, information, and other resources to ensure compliance with district policies and procedures.

R esponsible for the daily operations and management of the district voice and data network . This includes monitoring, training, troubleshooting, security, and coordination of installations and changes.

- Provides technical and/or administrative support within a specific area, including: develops and maintains documentation, manages processes, and coordinates activities, audits work, and analyzes reports.

- Ensures ongoing effort to improve effectiveness, including: researches and evaluates pending developments, identifies areas of concern, recommends solutions, and implements upgrades and enhancements.

- Respond to and resolve voice outages during business hours and on call as needed.

- Assesses and troubleshoots escalated problems and applies advanced understanding to resolve problems of stakeholders; focuses on root cause identification in order to achieve systemic improvement.

- Confers cross-functionally with other teams, employees, and vendors.

- Support the Cisco IP Telephony environments, which includes maintenance and contact center scripting for Call Manager, Cisco Unity, UCCX and Jabber.

- Assist the network administration team with basic Cisco network switch and router support.

- Answers others with problems, repairs, access issues or user rights.

- Provides training and technical advice to a team of employees.

- Coordinates with vendors as needed.

- Maintains voice or data communications throughout the district. This includes monitoring, training, security, troubleshooting, and scheduling of new installations.

- Resolves all reported trouble tickets.

- Installs equipment on-site, testing system for functionality with all necessary software applications.

- Complete all installations within set time lines.

- Assembles and configures network components per DPS standards.

- Sets up and maintains basic network operations.

- Maintains district VoIP telephones and telephone systems (over 10,000 ports supported).

- Trains district personnel in network equipment use and maintenance.

- Monitors network performance to ensure efficient use and prevent misuse.

- Installs equipment on-site, testing system for functionality with all necessary software applications.

- Install and repair UPS systems as required.

K nowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- Five (5) or more years of technology repair service experience.

- Cisco certified to CCNA level preferred but not required.

- Other network certifications are a plus but not required.

- Experience providing project leadership is preferred.

- Ability to establish a working relationship with vendors while ensuring the District' best interests are preserved.

- Aptitude to oversee vendor responsibilities.

- Knowledge with Google Suite and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.

- Effective time management and organizational skills.

- Effective communication skills.

- Strong attention to detail.

- Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.

- The ability to take responsibility for one's own performance.

- Work collaboratively with others on a team.

- High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.

- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management and the end-user community.

- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

- Temperament to work under pressure and maintain effective working relationships with clients, fellow employees, other departments and outside contractors.

- Working knowledge of data processing equipment, systems and techniques for data networks.

- Have and maintain a valid motor vehicle license.

- Demonstrated experience performing in compliance with established district and departmental policies regarding: attendance (absences, tardiness, sick leave and vacation use, and other scheduled or unscheduled absences); dress code; safety; security, and other policies, procedures and practices.

E ducation Requirements:

- High School Diploma or GED is required.

- Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
