Summer ELL Reading Interventionist Teacher

Description of Service Opportunity:
The ELL Reading Interventionist Teacher will provide small group reading instruction to English Learner students in grades 1 - 4 in ELL Summer Enrichment Program.

Minimum Requirements/Job Qualifications:
The ELL Reading interventionist Teacher will provide direct, targeted literacy support for the literacy development of English Language Learners in grades 1 -4. In addition, the candidate will:
- Plan leveled, targeted, direct literacy lessons that are appropriately scaffolded for English language learners.
- Modify literacy intervention materials and programs to fit the academic, linguistic, and literacy needs of ELLs
- Will align instruction with the CPS and Massachusetts Common Core Frameworks.
- Help select appropriate culturally responsive literacy materials for ELL students.
- Keep accurate records and communicate with teachers on a regular basis.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Director of JK - 12 English Learner Programs.

Requirements: Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in Reading. Massachusetts Educator Licenses in ESL/ELL and Reading. Candidate must be trained or willing to be trained in literacy intervention programs. At least two years of successful experience with diverse student populations in grades (K - 8) in an urban multicultural setting preferred.
Languages: Proficiency in English and fluency in a language other than English. (Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Mandarin, Haitian Creole, Somali or Arabic, or other languages) preferred but not required.

Contract Dates:
July 11, 2022 through August 5, 2023

Contract Amount:
$35.00 per hour, not to exceed $4,550.00
