    JOB TITLE:
    Substitute Teacher

    JOB GOALS:
    Provide instruction to students based on lesson plans in the absence of classroom teacher. Applicant should be able to improvise as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Valid State of Arizona Teacher Certificate or Substitute Teaching Certificate
    2. Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
    3. Three references (please add email addresses for each reference in your application)

    TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: As needed
    COMPENSATION:
    • Daily Call Assignments
      • *$145 per full day and $72.50 per half day
      • *$112 per full day and $56 per half day (if covering as a Substitute Special Ed Aide)
    • Long Term Assignments (starting on the 21st consecutive day)
      • *$165 per full day with Substitute or Teacher Certificate
    REPORTS TO: Principal and District Substitute Specialist

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Teaches with understanding and respect for the individuality of each pupil.
    2. Follows the lesson plans the teacher prepared in order to provide an effective lesson for students.
    3. Consults with a building administrator or grade level teacher, before initiating any teaching or other procedure not specified in the lesson or building plans.
    4. Records attendance and all other requested documentation.
    5. Adheres strictly to professional ethics.
    6. Protects confidentiality of all students.
    7. Manages the learning environment by handling non-instructional tasks efficiently, using instructional time appropriately, maintaining an effective physical setting for instruction, and maintaining appropriate student behavior in the classroom.
    8. Makes necessary referrals of pupils to other professional personnel according to the building plan.
    9. Reports in writing the day's activities to the regularly assigned classroom teacher.
    10. Returns all instructional materials, equipment, and keys to the proper place at the conclusion of the teaching day.
    11. Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems as well as all student concerns or allegations to the appropriate authority immediately, or as soon as is reasonably possible.
    12. Reviews job status i.e. dates, times, cancelations, number of days of the assignment etc. in Absence Management (formerly Aesop) regularly.
    13. Attends to the needs of students and engages them in learning at all times during the assignment.
    14. Willingness and flexibility to change an assignment (be it grade level or subject) at a moment's notice when asked by a building administrator.
    15. Work in a positive and cooperative manner with paraeducators, support staff, and all others in the school setting.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and arms, stand, bend or stoop. The employee is frequently required to move about the campuses. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
