.8 MS ESOL Teaching position at WMS

Teach and assess middle school English learners at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels of English proficiency in reading, writing as well as social studies for newcomers aligned to the CT Common Core and CELP standards. Responsibilities associated with this position also include the following:

• Teach a section of English Language Arts seminar
• Work collaboratively with MS ESOL colleagues to monitor EL student progress and growth as well as interventions
• Differentiate instruction and assessment based on linguistic proficiency level, as needed
• Help complete administrative tasks in support of the K - 12 ESOL program such as new student intake, administering annual LAS Links evaluation, etc.
• Attend ESOLspecific professional development and monthly secondary program meetings
• Attend building-based and district-directed professional development in order to support school improvement goals and implement best practices in instruction
• Help manage ESOL-specific activities such as family engagement sessions and field trips
• CT Certification in Pre-K - 12 TESOL and oral/written English fluency required
• K - 6 Classroom certified or 7 - 12 ELA certification also helpful
