E ssential Functions and Objectives:

D enver Public Schools, in partnership with the City of Denver and community organizations, will open community hubs that will address a holistic approach to student learning through programs and services that support social, emotional, physical and academic needs of students, families and community members. The work will follow a two-generation approach , offering services for both youth and their families, with a particular focus on fostering economic self-sufficiency and family stability. While services offered will be customized to regional needs, illustrative examples include workforce development; basic needs assistance; social emotional and mental health services; classes on financial literacy, ESL, GED, Citizenship, and Early Literacy; academic tutoring and more.

T his initiative is a key component of the district's strategic plan. The hubs will be designed to support each and every student in having equitable access to their educational opportunities. Specifically, for the 2022-23 school year, the district plans to have six hubs in operation that target younger learners and their families as well as one center targeting Pathways high school students. Long-term the district will use learnings from year one to support all students and their families in each region. The community hubs will also serve as a regional point of coordination for how to deploy the full resources of the city and our communities to support youth in our school buildings, where appropriate.

T he Community Hubs Manager is not just responsible for maintaining the operational and transactional responsibilities of the Community Hub, but also for serving as a thought partner in the broader district-wide community hubs initiative, uplifting regional feedback to shape the vision for regional wrap-around support. This role will manage the coordination of day-to-day activities of a specific business function: the Community Hub. Primary emphasis is on achieving results by building engagement with communities, families, and youth and empowering the community hub team as well as a variety of support resources from both the district and our partners.

T he Community Hubs Manager is expected to:

- Apply managerial thinking and decision making to deliver results and ensure project/team success.

- Solve problems, including defining, tackling and mitigating issues or situations. Map or assess situations, formulate options and provide guidance.

- Establish targets, analyze performance and follow up to ensure plans are attainable.

- Analyze past trends, identify gaps, and understand the district to provide recommendations.

- Work on issues that require thorough analysis; apply discretion for decisions that could impact short term goals. Uses set guidance, policies and procedures to make decisions and address operational challenges.

- Lead and develop strategies to implement an integrated service delivery model focusing on current infrastructures and the opportunity for significant expansion.

- Improves team performance through coaching, feedback and mentoring. Entrust and motivate direct reports by providing direction, and facilitate skill building.

- Oversee Community Hub staff and regularly monitor the progress of goals, program implementation, benchmarks, outcomes and results; oversee and conduct staff performance plans and annual evaluations.

- Manage and work with respective teams to implement policies, procedures, programs and initiatives that pertain to the Community Hub. Set clear goals, organize work plans, and divide work accordingly. Assure adherence to daily operational items, such as budgets, schedules, and performance.

- Oversee and utilize strong data tracking systems in order to inform strategic decisions and evaluate program success.

- Develop and oversee the management of marketing strategies.

- Lead network meetings, department meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance learning, bridge communication, understand expectations and collaborate with colleagues to achieve the program mission.

- Implement strategies for strong community and staff engagement in the design and implementation of the pilots to ensure collaboration across all schools in the network and alignment with district and school goals.

- Collaborate with internal and external partners within and outside of DPS.

- Collaborate with other functions, peers and teams. Gain credibility and cooperation across the organization. Convey progress and goal results with functional areas. Conduct training, present findings & materials and other deliverables.

- Manage and strengthen partnerships with nonprofits, faith communities, neighborhoods businesses, philanthropic groups and others to provide services and resources to support school, students, families and community.

K nowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- Two (2) or more years of relevant experience.

- Two (2) or more years of management experience.

- Bilingual in English and Spanish.

- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

- Strong organizational and analytic skills and strong attention to detail.

- Self-starter/leader who can anticipate department needs in a proactive (versus, reactive) manner.

- Ability to develop and interpret data and manage resources.

- Ability to motivate and influence others.

- Ability to effectively lead a team.

- Demonstrated proficiency with Google Suite, as well as Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.

- Ability to multi-task and juggle management of several high-priority projects in parallel.

- High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to lead a high-performing team.

- Demonstrated track record of producing results and successfully implementing new programs.

- Demonstrated knowledge of current research and trends in Community Schools and Integrated Service Delivery program models.

- Demonstrated ability to adjust in a rapidly changing work environment.

- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively to achieve outcomes, meet benchmarks, working successfully in a results driven environment and achieving program goals.

- Demonstrated communication and persuasive abilities, including verbal, written and presentation skills.

- Strong problem solving skills; experience in managing conflict and excellent mediation skills. Ability to respond creatively to challenges.

- Ability to work with people at all levels and diverse cultural backgrounds within the Denver Public Schools as well as key external organizations, students, parents/guardians and the community at large.
