Passed the GACE in Health and Physical Education P-12
Passed the GACE Adapted Curriculum.

0 to 1 year
*experience with practical application of principals, practices, and methods applicable to all students with disabilities a preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY:
To utilize current strategies and theories to plan, organize and implement structured lessons of Adapted Physical Education to students with disabilities for optimum performance and ability. This position reports to the Principal.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implementation of developed curricula in the areas of flexibility, balance, strength, cardiovascular conditioning and aquatics.
- Development of IEP current performance and objectives
- Train (class and/or P.E.) teachers to implement curricula and goals
- Work/consult with the occupational and physical therapists as needed
- Encourage social skills and participation with disabled and non-disabled peers
- Provide direct and consultative APE services to Intellectually Disabled students, students with Autism, TBI, Orthopedic Impairments, OHI, and other disabilities not listed, grades K-12.
- Conduct assessments, generate IEP goals/objectives.
- Establishes and Maintains effective relationships with school principals and staff, central office administrators and staff, parents, students, care providers, volunteers and external customers.
- Assign and work with APE contact person from each school
- Complete APE in-service training with all teachers/teams as requested
- Provide direct service during assigned gym times
- Participate in all Special Olympics activities and events
- Administer and/or support the state and local standardized testing processes and policies.
