    Duties
  • Oversee the execution of contracted non-medical counseling programs focused on addressing the needs and challenges of service members and their families.
  • Ensure a continuum of quality support, intervention or non-medical counseling for service members and/or their families.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with national, state, local, and military leaders with vested interests in improving quality of life for service members and their families.
  • Initiate partnerships with military services and reserve components to resolve a variety of complex issues involving service members and their families.
  • Plan new approaches and programs arising from proposed legislation and the latest DoD commitments.
  • Evaluate support programs reflecting the needs of service members and their families.
  • Organize program statistical information to provide recommendations or interpretations of non-medical counseling program data.
  • Deliver presentations to audiences on services available for service members and/or their families.

  • In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

    Specialized Experience GS 12: One year of specialized experience which includes monitoring the impact of initiatives related to non-medical counseling programs; analyzing statistical information of non-medical counseling program data; and resolving complex policy questions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

    Specialized Experience GS 13: One year of specialized experience which includes managing non-medical counseling programs; collaborating with various stakeholders to develop strategic plans for non-medical counseling programs; and advising senior management officials on policy and procedural changes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

    Specialized Experience GS 14: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating non-medical counseling programs; collaborating with various stakeholders to develop strategic plans for non-medical counseling programs; advising senior management officials on policy and procedural changes; and analyzing and/or developing policy of programs for non-medical counseling programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
