Utilizing leadership, advocacy and collaboration, the Guidance Counselor promotes student success by providing a range of counseling resources and preventive services and by responding to identified needs through the implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program that helps guide all learners in their academic success, personal and social development, and career and college planning.

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.

  • Coordinates the review of individual student transcripts and makes recommendations for Keystone School course selections;
  • Communicates with high school guidance and college admissions staff to ensure appropriate documentation is forwarded as required;
  • Coordinates the distribution of Keystone National High School diplomas to students upon successful completion of their individual coursework;
  • Delivers a full calendar of individual and group guidance curricula supporting student development;
  • Plans and delivers a complete college counseling program for Keystone National High School students;
  • Collects and analyzes student data and develops data-driven programs for intervention action plans;
  • Provides responsive services to individuals or groups on academic and personal issues;
  • Provides individual planning tools and systems to guide students toward post-secondary goals;
  • Assists students in the acquisition of study skills, academic opportunities and benefits;
  • Provides a support system that strengthens the efforts of teachers, staff, and parents;
  • Development and delivery of emotional learning and mental health resources for student populations.
  • Familiarization with career learning curriculum and resources.
  • Supports standardized testing program; parent education; and staff development;
  • Serves as the school's primary contact and resource for mandated reporting.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 2 - 4 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Serve on academic or school-wide committees as appropriate

Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree AND
  • 1-2 years of experience in counseling and/or advisement OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: Appropriate state certification as a Secondary Counselor

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, web-based search engines, and database systems
  • Flexible schedule; Ability to travel as needed, up to 15% of the time
  • Ability to pass a required background check

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with distance learning
  • Advanced coursework in counseling and administration
  • Experience as a 7-12 teacher
  • Experience in a customer service environment.
  • Experience with Local, State, and Federals laws and mandatory reporting
  • Experience in a charter school or distance learning environment preferred

This is a work-from-home based position.

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required to travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
  • Exempt (salary): Post annual salary
    We anticipate the salary range to be $24,000 to $60,243. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
