This position is located in the Mark Center in Alexandria, Virginia. The Mark Center is the location for the Washington Headquarters Services of the Department of Defense and a number of other DoD agencies. The name of the site refers to the "Mark Center" commercial property in which it is located, at the intersection of Seminary Road and Beauregard Street at the Interstate 395 interchange.It is the tallest building constructed by the Army Corps of Engineers.

    Duties
  • Develop and implement National School Lunch Program, Student Breakfast Program, and Student Meal Program guidance.
  • Coordinate school feeding programs to determine the effectiveness of program operations.
  • Analyze community Student Meal Programs operational and financial performance to ensure efficient and effective program execution.
  • Draft proposed legislation to justify and promote needed program changes.
  • Conduct training related to the management of the National School Lunch Program, Student Breakfast Program, and Student Meal Program.
  • Develop policies, marketing, documents and communications strategies, for the Student Meals Program.

  • In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

    Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: providing nutrition information to an organization, tracking a financial budget, and ensuring a student meals program complies with U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

    You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

  • Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
