The Credit Recovery Coordinator provides implementation oversight and coordination of alternative education programs for students identified as needing additional support in achieving high school graduation. The Credit Recovery Coordinator also promotes and supports the use of computer aided instruction/curriculum to help students meet graduation requirements through both credit recovery and credit attainment.

Salary range: $81,016 - $116,856

Qualifications

Education Requirements:
  • Master's degree in education and an administrative license, or the ability to obtain within two years
  • Willingness to obtain an Alternative Education license (952) within two years of hire

Experience Requirements:
  • Five years (5) teaching or counseling experience with high school grades, preferably in an Alternative Education setting
  • Participated in a curriculum review process
  • Taken or taught an online course
  • Demonstration of leadership skills in an educational setting
  • Evidence of systems thinking or data driven decision process
  • Participated in a collaborative decision-making process


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support alternative education program offerings, including high school credit recovery and General Education Development Option #2 (GEDO2) programs
  • Assess students for placement into the district's Competency Based or GED Option #2 program and refer eligible students to programs
  • Support other district initiatives support students at risk for not graduating, including grant opportunities and partnerships with other educational and community agencies including the Wisconsin National Guard Challenge Academy
  • Collaborate with district and school leaders to support the use the district Graduation progress report which includes an early warning system to identify students in need of additional support.
  • Plan and present training, professional development, and consultation to MPS staff as needed
  • Co-evaluate alternative program teaching staff as assigned
  • Work with district curriculum staff to ensure Alternative Program curriculum is up to date and aligned to current standards
  • Collaborate with school and district leaders in implementing systems and structures to meet student needs through alternative programs
  • Monitor and provide district level reports on school-level enrollments and student progress in alternative programs
  • Promote and support the use of online learning to help students meet graduation requirements through credit acceleration and recovery
  • Manage time, priorities, budget, records, and required paperwork while meeting deadlines
  • Engage principals, teachers, parents and students in alternative programs and online learning
  • Monitor and support equitable access and participation of different student sub-groups
  • Attend required staff and district meetings
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan
  • Performs other duties as assigned
