PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Grant Writer identifies funding sources that support and are aligned to the district's strategic goals. Position works with departments and schools on grant applications, maintaining records, generating reports, and overseeing the district grant application process and procedures.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Accountability, Assessment, & Reporting Services
SALARY SCHEDULE: A-5
WORK DAYS: 250

REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Education Level: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, education, or related field. Valid Driver's License
Preferred: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, education, or related field.
  1. Experience, Skill, and Certification:
  • Minimum three years of successful professional experience and a proven track record in grant writing.
  • Ability to write comprehensive grant applications and assist others in the conceptualization and development of grant proposals.
  • Ability to network and establish effective contacts with funding agencies (business, state, and federal).
  • Ability to create a project plan for tracking work, milestones, resources, and deadlines for meeting grant requirements.
  • Ability to independently plan, coordinate, and initiate actions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience using online collaboration tools and at a minimum MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to perform analytical work carefully and accurately; to analyze data, formulate recommendations, and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred: Coursework in grant writing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Seeks grant opportunities and serves as a clearinghouse for potential grant opportunities.
  2. Prepares proposals and grant applications for external funding, including writing letters of support, researching district, state demographics, and developing partnerships where necessary.
  3. Manages and establishes contacts with funding sources in both public and private sectors to include institutions such as government, department, corporations, foundations, or trust.
  1. Provides assistance to departments and schools on grant approvals, grant preparation, and grant processing.
  2. Partners with departments, schools, and/or community agencies on funding opportunities. Reviews program guidelines, application materials, and other relevant information for submitting completed applications.
  3. Provides training to departments and/or schools on the district's grant process and procedures.
  4. Maintains the district's Grant Procedures Handbook.
  5. Provide reports and presentations to the Superintendent's Cabinet on the status of grant applications, awards, and impact to the district.
  6. Creates project plans for grant timeline tracking, establishing milestones, and obtaining resources in order to meet deadlines.
  7. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Incumbents will be considered "at will." Appropriate pay will be determined based on Grade A5 of the administrative scale and allowable experience as determined by Human Resources. This is a 250-workday exempt position.
