The Vanguard School has openings for Special Education Classroom Teachers in our Elementary School program servings students ages 5 to 12. We are looking for creative, compassionate teachers with experience working with students diagnosed with autism, emotional disorders, and/or behavioral needs.
As a Classroom Teacher, you'll develop and implement academic, social, and daily living lessons for your class of 5 to 8 students. With support from a full-time Classroom Aide, you'll monitor student progress, implement behavior plans, and maintain accurate records. You will have the opportunity to consult and collaborate with multiple professionals including a psychologist, behavior analyst, and other related service professionals. In addition, we provide training in managing student behaviors, implementing positive behavior support strategies, and other professional development topics.
POSITION DETAILS AT A GLANCE Work Schedule: School Year (191 days)
Work Hours: 7:45AM to 3:30PM, Monday to Friday
Payrate: Beginning at $43,500 for recent grads
♦ Starting salary is higher for applicants with special ed teaching experience
♦ Additional pay can be earned working any of our summer programs (ESY, Camp, Beach Week)

Requirements: ♦ Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field
♦ Current, valid Pennsylvania certification in Special Education (PK-8 or N-12)
♦ Exposure to and participation in a special education setting and knowledge of classroom management techniques
♦ Familiarity with positive behavior support and/or experience providing direct services to students on the autism spectrum and/or with emotional disorders is preferred
♦ Ability to recognize the individuality and uniqueness of each student and treat him/her with respect and dignity
♦ 3 background clearances dated within the past 12 months
