Bus Aides, Bus & Van Drivers

2022-2023 School Year

Assist in providing daily safe transportation of students to and from programs within the town and to other out of district locations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to relate well with the public
  • Experience working with Special Needs children preferred
  • Sign language skills preferred
  • CPR and first aid training required
  • Bus Driver Substitutes CDL and medical exam required, Van Drivers Substitutes 7D license and medical exam required
  • Bus Aides (opportunity to secure 7D license available)
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may deem appropriate and acceptable


REPORTS TO:
  • Transportation Director


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the bus/van operator in transporting a small number of handicapped children to and from school
  • Responsible for seeing that pupils are placed on the bus/van safely, are properly seated, and seat belts and/or harnesses are applied
  • Serve as a comforting influence during occasional emotional or physical outbursts
  • Aid students off/on the bus/van assisting them into the school or to their homes
  • Maintain order on the vehicle at all times
  • Perform such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned


SALARY:

Bus Aides $18 per hour (starting pay)

Van Drivers $22.57 Substitutes 7D license required

Bus Driver $26.52 Substitutes CDL required
