Job Title Substitute - Teacher Pathway Implements teacher's lessons, assignments, and instructional materials;Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives;Selects and uses appropriate instructional strategies including, but not limited to, lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, modeling and multimedia teaching aids to present subject matter to students;Evaluates student progress using appropriate assessment techniques;Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning and takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities;Counsels pupils when academic and adjustment problems arise;Maintains accurate and complete records as required;Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, textbooks, materials and facilities;Attends and actively participates in staff/faculty meetings and provides input regarding the planning of instruction goals, objectives and methods;Improves skill and knowledge base in current trends, research and methodology in instructional techniques, technology, multicultural content, problem solving and interdisciplinary connections; andPerforms other duties as assigned.

This is a temporary non-benefits eligible position. The Substitute - Teacher Pathway is responsible for implementing the prescribed lesson plans and maintaining an orderly environment that is conducive to learning. Substitutes are required to uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies, as well as perform other job-related duties as assigned by school/center administrators. Substitutes work on an as-needed basis. The Substitute - Teacher Pathway assignment is intended for those individuals who are on track to become a professionally certificated educator within two years.
This is a temporary non-benefits eligible position; not represented by a bargaining unit.
Salary: $223.85 per day

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; coursework in K-12 education preferred.? A minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience (permanent or substitute) within a Maryland state public school system.
Previously held a Conditional teaching certification issued by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and must be within 15 credits of obtaining certification.
