West Hartford Public Schools is seeking to fill a position for an interim middle school math coach (FTE 1.0) for the start of the 2022-23 school year. This is a temporary position for the 2022-23 school year. Position follows teacher hours and schedule.

Requirement: Current CT Certification (029) or (229).

Responsibilities:
  • Co-plan and co-teach with math teachers to consistently implement differentiated instruction and Tier 1 interventions
  • Work directly with students in small groups in to model intervention strategies when needed.
  • Assist teachers with analyzing student data, developing improvement plans based on identified strengths and weaknesses and to create targeted small-group instructional models and corresponding lessons that provide differentiated learning opportunities.
  • Coordinate communication with each core course team to ensure alignment of pacing, rigor, assessment within each course.
  • Provide modeling and coaching to teachers using effective, research-based math strategies on an ongoing basis.
  • Facilitate opportunities for peer-observations and debriefs among teams of teachers.
  • Develop and implement plans to provide targeted support for struggling learners with skill gaps both in class and outside of core math class.
  • Communicate and coordinate with math teaching assistants and tutors to implement targeted support.
  • Support department professional development planning and implementation.
  • Assist teachers with implementation of new instructional strategies, technology, math assessments, curriculum, and math interventions.
