Teacher - Fifth Grade (2022-23)

Responsibilities:

• Develops and modifies instructional programs to meet individual needs
• Implements district adopted curricula
• Plans, develops and implements courses of instruction designed to achieve district student learning objectives and grade level expectations
• Utilizes effective strategies for improving student behavior and manages classroom so as to provide a productive learning environment
• Provide assistance and guidance to individual students
• Reports regularly to parents and is responsive to parental concerns
• Maintains student records including daily grades, attendance reports and others as required
• Supports students with special needs in collaboration with their appropriate programs
• Enforces school rules and monitors student behavior in non-classroom settings
• Incorporates the teaching of writing and higher level thinking skills into the instructional program
• Participates in staff and grade level meetings
• Works cooperatively with other staff and administrators

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Washington State teaching certificate with Elementary Education endorsement
• Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Elementary Education
• Successful experience as a primary teacher preferred
• Strong core academic skills, and student centered approach to teaching
• Experience and/or training working with diverse learners ranging from special education through highly capable and at-risk students
• Demonstrated interest, commitment, and ability to work positively with elementary students
• Demonstrated ability to positively contribute to decision making in collaboration with administrators and other staff members
• Willingness to proactively and effectively collaborate with grade-level team to provide differentiated learning
• Knowledge of Washington State education trends and standards
• Knowledge/experience in technology to implement and enhance student learning
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
