MIDDLE SCHOOL ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS TEACHER
Interested and qualified persons are invited to apply for a 1.0 FTE middle school (grades 6-8) English Language Arts teaching position at North Tapps Middle School, beginning September 2022.

Qualifications : Clearances:
1) OSPI fingerprint clearance
2) Ability to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination upon request or to enter into the accommodation process
Qualifications:
1) Valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements
2) Ability to work successfully with middle level students
3) Familiarity with English Language Arts curriculum and curriculum-based assessments
4) Ability to understand and apply curriculum standards for English Language Arts
5) Ability to articulate strategies and structures that will allow for differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students in a heterogenous class
6) Strength in classroom management, curriculum design, instruction, and assessment
7) Excellent technology skills and ability to use and incorporate computers and technology into curriculum
8) Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a willingness to build partnerships with school, home, and community
9) Interest in joining a team of professional educators who possess commitment to integrated studies, high student achievement, and personal excellence

Essential Functions:
- Plan, implement, and evaluate effective classroom instruction consistent with building and district curriculum/programs
- Participate in team planning, programming, and instructional activities focused on improving instructional practices and student learning
- Diagnose and prescribe learning and training programs for individual students based on aptitude, interest, and level to achieve
- Develop instructional goals and objectives to meet teaching assignment
- Utilize district and state standards in developing curriculum
- Recognize individual students' needs and provide appropriate strategies and interventions
- Foster and maintain a safe, positive learning environment
- Cooperate with building principal and staff in implementation of comprehensive instructional and activities programs
- Prepare teaching materials and reports (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and providing documentation of teacher and student progress
- Communicate effectively with parents and the school community
- Serve as a cooperative member of the instructional team
- Use and integrate educationally relevant technology
- Participate in building and district in-service education/training programs
- Attend building/district meetings and conferences as required.
- Know and observe safety procedures; maintain safe working conditions; comply with safety rules and regulations
