Position Title: Human Resources Specialist
Location: Central Office
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Terms of employment: 12 Months, 228 days
Reports To: Director of Human Resources

Primary Function: Assures the efficient operation of a well-organized Personnel Department in a friendly and professional manner.

Requirements:
  • Experience: Formal training in office practices; Human Resources experience preferred
  • Educational Level: Associate's Degree or higher
  • Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills, ability to deal with multiple tasks, organizational skills, ability to operate office machinery, computer competence
  • Personal skills: Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, physical skills, and stamina to perform essential duties.

General:

  • Human Resource Specialist:
  • Assists with distribution, completion, collection, processing, filing and dissemination of employment applications for certified and non-certified positions.
  • Acts as liaison to the Sheriff's Department, and assists employees with criminal record requirements. Prepares and maintains all documentation of criminal background checks.
  • Creates, maintains and manages all employee personnel files, records, materials, supplies, and equipment in an appropriate, accessible and current manner, including records necessary for reporting and accountability.
  • Assists with state and federal reporting requirements, including unemployment Claims and separation notices.
  • Assists with compiling, entering, verifying, and transmitting data for (CPI) Certified/Classified personnel information for Georgia Department of Education Data Collections.
  • Assists with certification applications and uploading data on the (GAPSC) Georgia Professional Standards Commission portal.
  • Processes and issues all employment contracts for certified employees and salary computation agreements for classified employees.
  • Calculates pay adjustments to pay related issues due to previous errors or retroactive increases related to certificate upgrades.
  • Processes all employment and income verifications for current and previous employees through Verifent Software system.
  • Processes Public Service Loan Forgiveness form for current and previous employees by request.
  • Processes fingerprints for all new hires and serves as (POC) point of contact for GCIC audit compliance.
  • Processes all I-9 E-Verify employment eligibility and maintain documentation for audit purposes.
  • Acts as a liaison between employees, district, and Department of Labor with regards to unemployment claims, direct contact for E-sides reporting, follow up and documentation.
  • Maintains software systems, deactivations, activation of new users and account profiles. Direct point of contact for TalentEd Recruit/Hire, TalentEd Employee Records, Frontline Absence management. Process end-of-year cleanup for new start-up school year.
  • Assists with New Employee Induction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
