Full Time Position: (1.0 FTE)
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the director of Teaching and Learning Support, the Trauma Engaged Schools Specialist will support district-wide best practices in Social Emotional Learning, guide implementation of the Transforming Schools: Trauma Engaged Schools framework, oversee mental health grant programs, and assist with development of a sustainable model for mental and behavioral health services in JSD. The Trauma Engaged Schools Specialist will work closely with community partners and AASB to align efforts and priorities.
Minimum Requirements:
Masters degree in social work, counseling, education, family relationships, or related field.
Valid Alaska driver's license.
Knowledge of child and adolescent development, and impacts of trauma on learning.
Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding child welfare in school.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional licensure in social work, family relationships, education, or related field.
Familiar with Transforming Schools: A framework for Trauma Engaged Practice in Alaska.
Training and experience in Restorative Practices.
Compensation:
This position is a 10-month, permanent position. Salary: Range J on the Classified Exempt Salary Schedule $45,343 - $78,393 DOE. The district offers an excellent benefit package including; PERS, health, dental, vision and life insurance as well as additional, optional wellness and retirement options. This position is classified exempt and not a part of any bargaining unit.
Selected hire will be fingerprinted at applicant's expense and fingerprints forwarded to the Alaska State Troopers and the FBI for a criminal background check.
