Description of Service Opportunity:
OVERVIEW
Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (CRLS) consists of four small learning communities that support students in their academic, social and civic achievements. Students enrolled in the Summer English Language Arts (ELA) Preview Program will be enrolled in an English Language Arts 9 class next school year. Incorporated throughout the course will be studentship skills - taking good notes, staying organized, time management skills, class participation and self-advocacy skills. The teacher of this program is expected to employ differentiated instructional strategies for diverse learners including ELL and special education students.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Knowledge about and the ability to implement the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework for ELA Standards.
• Knowledge about and the ability to implement the district ELA core curriculum standards.
• Assess student learning, monitoring students' understanding of the curriculum and adjusting instruction
appropriately.
• Integrate technology within the instruction to increase student comprehension and interest.
• Create an environment that is positive for student learning and involvement, and ensuring equitable opportunities for students to receive ongoing feedback.
• Communicate learning goals and high standards and expectations to all students.
• Maintain appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect and safety.
• Demonstrate the appreciation for and sensitivity to, the diversity among individuals.
• Provide multiple access points and scaffolding within instruction and assessment for a wide range of learners.
• Share the responsibility for accomplishing the goals and priorities of the CRLS ELA Department, CRLS and the
Cambridge Public Schools.
• Meet professional obligations with respect to punctuality, attendance and routine duties.
The Preview Course will be held in-person during the summer of 2022 over a 5 day period.

Minimum Requirement/Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university; Massachusetts certification in grade 9-12 ELA.
Experience teaching in an urban, multi-cultural school system with inclusionary practices. Meet NCLB highly qualified teacher requirements.
The teacher will be expected to work 4 hours per day, for a 5 day period. S/he will also be allotted 10 hours of prep time.

Contract Dates:
July 1, 2022 through September 1, 2022

Contract Amount:
$35.00 per hour, Not to exceed $1,050.00
