Overall Purpose
The job of Instructional Technology Specialist is done for the purpose/s of interfacing with teachers to facilitate the integration of knowledge into teaching and learning by developing and conducting training classes on application software products; maintaining training facility resources and equipment; providing input regarding software purchases for both site and district technology plans; and providing input/insight on ways to increase teachers' use of technology as it positively impacts student performance in the classroom.

Essential Functions
  • Provides professional learning for administrators, teachers, and other staff in the use of technology integration strategies and initiatives employed by the Clarke County School District.
  • Promotes and facilitates (through model lessons and classroom-based coaching) the use of technology by school personnel and students.
  • Participates in school-based work sessions and /or grade level or departmental meetings and planning sessions to develop standards-based units or lessons that integrate technology designed to foster higher-level thinking, decision- making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborates with building level Administrators and others in assessing the technology training needs of the building staff and develop professional learning opportunities that support the building school improvement plan and/or the district continuous improvement plan.
  • Identifies, implements, and manages appropriate systems or processes to maximize efficiency of district-level initiatives and tasks (walk-through forms, Google Admin Console, Destiny, device configuration, curriculum portal, etc.).
  • Performs appropriate level-one troubleshooting to resolve device and/or account issues that can be solved quickly.
  • Collaborates with other members of the instructional technology team as well as content specialists/coaches and other members of the Instructional Services Division to enhance instructional technology integration across content areas and across the district.
  • Attends departmental and called meetings, training sessions, webinars, and other activities as required.
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain a positive professional working relationship with all stakeholders.

Competencies
  • Skills-based Competencies
Required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment using pertinent software applications including web page editing programs and web development using server-side scripting in PHP and MySQL; preparing and maintaining accurate records; planning and managing projects; strong writing ability; and instructional design skills.
  • Knowledge-based Competencies
Required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: methods, procedures, materials and techniques used in the installation and maintenance of computer and computer systems including both hardware and software; create multimedia and digital video presentations and promotions; policies, regulation guidelines as they relate to use of software (specifically, copyright laws and the use of licensed equipment and materials); educational and classroom management software.
  • Ability-based Competencies
Required to schedule a significant number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a wide variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; and working as part of a team.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree
Possess or eligible for a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate
Three (3) years' teaching experience
Three (3) years' experience working with technology in a teaching environment preferred
Valid Georgia driver's license and reliable transportation

Physical Requirements
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.

Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing.
