School Supervision
DEFINITION: Under close supervision, monitors student and staff safety for Sunnyside Unified School District.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

TASKS:
Patrols school grounds; monitors student behavior; checks, and documents traffic and visitors entering grounds; keeps documentation on all incidents occurring on school grounds and submits weekly summary reports to administration; enforces District policies, rules and regulations; assists in evacuation of buildings during fire drills and bomb threats; assists students, parents and faculty with issues related to safety; helps with student conflict mediation; assists on minor repairs to secure the buildings including nights and weekends.
Responds to on-call duties evenings and weekends as well as emergencies during the week; reports misconduct to appropriate personnel and informs administration of vandalism and damages to school property; diffuses threatening situations or confrontations; maintains security of closed campuses; opens, closes and locks gates, hallways, locker rooms and common areas; prepares and types miscellaneous reports; covers extra-curricular activities/special events such as graduations, sporting events and weekend events; observes and gathers information regarding gang-related or substance abuse activities; serves as a positive role model for students; performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.
Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
Skill in identifying misconduct or unauthorized visitors.
Skill in resolving conflict issues.
Skill in preparing, documenting and maintaining reports.
Skill in following oral and written instructions.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in an indoor office environment. Work requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, and repetitive motion; vision to monitor and may require lifting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
On the job training as specified by the District, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must possess an Arizona driver license.
First aid/CPR
Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.
