Position Purpose: Work effectively with other center staff to develop and implement the program and maintain the center's daily routine to provide a safe, vibrant and enriching program for the enrolled children.

Essential Functions
  • Help plan, prepare and supervise optimal use of center space and equipment
  • Help plan, prepare and implement age-appropriate activities to enhance the children's emotional, social, motor and cognitive development
  • Maintain daily records of each child's schedule, dietary and medical needs
  • Maintain regular and open communication with parents regarding their child's daily schedule and developmental progress
  • Maintain the center's equipment and overall environment so that it is neat, clean and attractive, and in compliance with health, safety, fire, and licensing regulations
  • Other assignments as directed
Qualifications
  • A clear commitment to the school's educational philosophy as articulated in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools. Actively uphold and model personal and professional behavior based on our Goals & Criteria.
  • High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 12 postsecondary semester or equivalent quarter units in early childhood education or child development
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a program serving infants
  • Current Infant and Child CPR certification
  • Registration in required fingerprint databases and clearance of background checks based on it\
  • Demonstrated ability to develop consistent, stable and supportive relationship with infants
  • Ability to relate well to and communicate effectively with parents
  • Ability to work well with students and colleagues; willingness to be an active, enthusiastic member of the SHS community

Physical Requirements and Work Environment ​​​​​​​
  • Regularly sit, talk, hear and to visually intercept visitors. Regularly uses close and distance vision;
  • Works in a highly busy and sometimes stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts;
  • Must comply with all state vaccination requirements and show proof of vaccination including but not limited to COVID-19 or proof of eligibility for exemption;
  • Must be able to regularly move safely and comfortably over a 64-acre campus;
  • Be able to regularly lift up to 10lbs and on occasion, safely lift up to 30 lbs.;
  • Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled office environment and outside in weather ranging from cold and wet to very warm (80+ degrees);
  • Be able to crawl, bend, stoop, reach and sit on the floor.
