Elementary PE/Health/Adaptive Teachers Summer Learning Program 2022

Elementary Teachers - (Up to 5 positions)

PD Dates June 28-29, 2022 and August 1, 2022

Program Dates: July 5 - July 29, 2022

Hours: Monday to Friday from 8:15 am - 3:15 pm

The Teacher is a specialist in Health & Wellness with experience in elementary schools. The Teacher provides engaging and meaningful health and wellness instruction to students as part of a full service summer learning program.

A minimum of 10 students is required to run a course.

$40.00 per hour (Contingent upon funding)

*Selected candidates will be required to attend a one-hour onboarding session to be held on June 27. Candidates who fail to attend that session will not be eligible to work in the summer school/credit recovery program. A schedule of times and location will be included in the offer letter.
EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree in Education from an accredited teacher education program

RIDE Requirements

Current/valid RI Teacher Certificate in PK-12 PE/Health/Adaptive Required

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES

• Create a fun, engaging and safe learning environment for K-5 students

• Implement a creative health and wellness block to K-5 students

• Provide direct service for whole group, small group, and individual instruction based on student needs

• Differentiate instruction by developing, selecting and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students

• Plan inclusive activities that allow all students to participate

• Promote an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of all students

• Participate fully in a professional community including common planning, professional development, and self-reflection/evaluation

• Supervise students in a range of settings; protect and promote the safety and well-being of students, colleagues, equipment, materials and facilities

• Communicate and interact appropriately and professionally with students, colleagues, parents, and the community

• Continuously develop and evolve teaching practice and support colleagues in their development

• Must commit to working all days of program

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS

• Prior experience in in delivering high quality PE/Health/Adaptive instruction in a fun and engaging manner, urban setting preferred

• Ability differentiate and scaffold instruction to support and accelerate learning

• An asset-based view of diverse cultures and a belief in growth mindset

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
