General Description
$2,000 BONUS!
Provides assistance to the library media specialist for library functions, including assisting with instructional lessons with students, performing routine clerical duties, locating and checking out materials for students and staff and assisting other staff in the performance of similar or related duties. Tasks performed are specific and recurring; work procedures are covered by oral or written instructions.

Qualifications
Some knowledge of library procedures and filing systems. Some knowledge of and interest in children's literature. Some knowledge of and skill in using audiovisual equipment, office equipment and computers and/or the ability to learn the use of equipment quickly with some training. Demonstrated ability to read, alphabetize, file, type and perform basic clerical tasks and to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents and the public. Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Requirements
Must have high school diploma or its recognized equivalent and meet the following minimum state requirements:
College transcripts or parapro scores must be submitted to be considered for this position.

Essential Job Functions
- Assists in processing new and discarded library materials
- Manages circulation transactions
- Shelves materials
- Assists school librarian in repairing books
- Assists students and teachers in locating materials, and in the use of school library technology and databases
- Assists in preparation and implementation of special programs, inventory and school library lessons
- Assists in maintaining an attractive and organized learning environment
- Prepares correspondence, reports, and other materials as requested
- Performs other duties as assigned

- passing score of 455 on the Paraprofessional Assessment (www.ets.org) or
- complete two years of study at an institution of higher education or
- possession of an Associate's Degree.
