    Part Time Counselor at Queen of Martyrs School (22-23 school year):

    Queen of Martyrs School is seeking a school counselor to serve the social-emotional needs of students from grades PreK through 8th grade. This position is accountable for promoting student success, providing preventive services, and responding to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, career, and personal/social development for all students. This is a position that is one day a week (flexible on day).

    Job Summary:
    • Considerable knowledge of educational philosophy, teaching methods and approaches, and currently researched best practices and strategies;
    • Considerable knowledge of the academic and emotional needs of academically talented students and the ability to differentiate lesson plans to meet the needs of those individuals;
    • Knowledge of child development;
    • Knowledge of classroom management techniques;
    • Knowledge of instructional technologies;
    • Knowledge of learning theory, students' learning styles and needs, both academic and affective, and theories of multiple intelligences;
    • Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Response to Intervention (RtI);
    • Some knowledge of community resources;
    • Skill in human relations, mediation, conflict management and interpersonal interactions;
    • Skill in maintaining and developing reports;
    • Verbal and written communication skills;
    • Ability and flexibility to interact effectively with students, parents, and other school staff, the administration, and community members of diverse ethnic/racial and socioeconomic backgrounds;

    Qualifications:
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
    • Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
    • Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
    • Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
    • Meet professional requirements of school, district and state.
    • Experience working with a diverse population
    • Relentless commitment to raising the academic and social emotional achievement of ALL students
    • Candidates must have hold a valid Illinois State License Type 73 to be considered.
    • Bachelor's degree in counseling or closely related field

    Working Conditions:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must frequently move, stand, and lift up to 10 pounds. As well as be able to walk up and down steps several times each day and physically respond quickly in an emergency.
