Founded in 1959 and located on a beautiful 28-acre campus in Malvern, PA, VFES and the Vanguard School are dedicated to the growth and development of children and young adults with a variety of special needs. Reporting to the Director of Education, The Vanguard School has openings for Special Education Classroom Teachers in our High School program servings students grades 9 to 12. We are looking for creative, compassionate teachers with experience working with students diagnosed with autism, emotional disorders, and/or behavioral needs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Develop and implement academic, social, and daily living lessons for your class of 5 to 8 students.
• Monitor student progress, implement behavior plans, and maintain accurate records.
• Consult and collaborate with multiple professionals including a psychologist, behavior analyst, and other related service professionals.
• Manage student behaviors, implement positive behavior support strategies, and other professional development topics.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field
• Current, valid Pennsylvania certification in Special Education (N-12)
• Exposure to and participation in a special education setting and knowledge of classroom management techniques
• Familiarity with positive behavior support and/or experience providing direct services to students on the autism spectrum and/or with emotional disorders is preferred
• Ability to recognize the individuality and uniqueness of each student and treat him/her with respect and dignity
• 3 background clearances dated within the past 12 months
