The Research Specialist I supports and helps to lead the management of research and evaluation programs/policy in the district. This person also ensures research conducted has maximum benefit to the district. This individual provides direct support to district leaders and school-based staff on a variety of topics as they relate to research and evaluation in support of the district strategic plan. The person will also work with a wide range of stakeholders including community organizations, institutions of higher education, the state Department of Public Instruction, and others.

Salary range: $70,465 - $101,577 (12 months).

Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in educational measurement, statistics, educational psychology, evaluation, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related experience in research in an educational setting or other public sector environments.
  • Equivalent combinations of training, education, and experience in database and statistical applications in an educational setting will be considered.


Responsibilities

  • Conducts a variety of appropriately applied methodologies for inquiry on assigned projects and initiatives.
  • Conducts data analyses with appropriate statistical tools, tests, and methods using statistical software and/or relational databases.
  • Provides consultation to a wide audience, both internal and external, in and for the district.
  • Coordinate the review and approval process for internal and external research quests including implementing appropriate control for the release of confidential information and consultation regarding research methods.
  • Coordinates survey design, analysis, and question formation.
  • Leads program evaluations and research studies in collaboration with program staff.
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
