The Essex Westford School District has a part-time (0.6 FTE) opportunity for an English Language Learner teacher to join our talented, dedicated team beginning in the 2022-2023 school year. This position will primarily serve students at the Preschool level as well as provide support to students at Westford School. This position will join a dynamic team of ELL teachers who work collaboratively to serve the ELL students throughout the District.

EWSD is committed to considering out-of-state candidates who are eligible to hold a Vermont educator license but do not yet hold a license in this state. Folks with experience working in another country, the ability to fluently speak more than one language, peace corp experience, and/or otherworldly experience are encouraged to apply to help contribute to a diversity of thinking and grow our organizational practices.

Responsibilities include:
  • Identification, screening, and evaluation of student needs
  • Establishment of individual language proficiency goals
  • Developing and monitoring the progress of those goals through an ELL service plan
  • Preparing educational materials and delivering instruction to qualifying ELL students
  • Consulting with classroom teachers and administrators
  • Assisting in the coordination, administration, and analysis of results of ACCESS testing and communicating with parents.
A solid background in ELL instruction and a Vermont professional educator's license, or eligibility to hold a Vermont license, with a K-12 ELL endorsement (3-40) is required. Experience working with preschool and elementary-aged students preferred.
