PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for coordinating staff and food production during the absence of the Manager, as well as for food production and the proper collection of money.

REPORTS TO: SNP Multi-Site Manager or Satellite Manager
SALARY SCHEDULE: (G-6)
WORK DAYS: 200

REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Education Level: High school diploma
Preferred : Vocational or technical training for the food service industry
  1. Experience, Skill, and Certification:
  • Prior school food service experience as a SNP Assistant, or at least one year of lead or supervisory experience in an institutional kitchen or restaurant; or certification from an accredited technical school food service management program
  • Ability to operate basic Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to operate calculator
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to operate institutional food service equipment
  • Proven ability to lead or supervise other employees
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Coordinates the assignments and productivity of kitchen staff during the absence of the Manager.
  2. Ensures that food production meets the detailed work schedule.
  3. Prepares detailed work schedule based on approved menus and procedures.
  4. Provides and ensures efficient customer service to all customers.
  5. Monitors the temperature of food.
  6. Trains SNP Assistants to operate all of the institutional food service equipment.
  7. Ensures proper communication between the SNP kitchen staff and site administration, staff and parents.
  8. Ensures that all staff follow the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) Standard Operating Points (SOP) for receiving, storing, and labeling unused portions, and for temperature records for cooking and for the steam table.
  9. Completes all Training in Depth (TID) courses as required by Georgia Department of Education (DOE) and the SNP.
  10. Perform s all necessary responsibilities of the kitchen staff.
  11. Monitors the point-of-sale operators during breakfast and lunch.
  12. Prepares bank deposit and delivers it to the Manager each day.
  13. Assists the SNP Multi-Site and/or Satellite Manager with maintaining an accurate perpetual single inventory.
  14. Assists with weighing and measuring of menu items for food production.
  15. Documents all production errors, employee problems and other critical items for review by the Manager.
  16. Attends at least one faculty meeting and PTA meeting each school year.
  17. Assists the Manager with participation projects.
  18. Assists with nutrition education presentations
  19. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the cafeteria and the organization.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Incumbents will be considered "at will." Appropriate pay will be determined based on Grade 6 on the classified hourly scale and allowable experience as determined by Human Resources. This is a nonexempt 200-workday position.

OFFICE Employees in this category are normally exposed to a typical environment. The employee has some control over the length of time sitting, standing, or ambulating. There are occasions that require the lifting or pulling of equipment or supplies, as well as bending, stooping, or stretching. There is frequent use of computers, telephone, and other standard office equipment, which includes reading, listening, writing, or speaking. There are few exceptional physical or sensory demands.

EXCEPTIONAL PHYSICAL OR SENSORY DEMANDS
[X] Occasional heavy lifting of up to 25 pounds of materials, etc.
[X ] Frequent climbing up to _6_ feet.
[ ] Exposure to heavy dust, dirt, chemical or paint fumes, and other airborne matter.
[ X] Exposure to extreme heat, electric current, hazardous chemicals, or other potential hazards.
[X ] Sitting or standing for extended periods with no control over rest periods.
[X ] Other: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's
functions require lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and
balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and
significant repetitive motions. Generally, the job requires 10% of time sitting
(for lunch and/or staffing meetings and/or for required training in a classroom
setting), 40% walking and 50% standing.
