Description of Service Opportunity:
The 2022 Summer District Social Worker(s) , under the direction of the K-12 Summer/Vacation Programs Manager and in collaboration with District Lead Teacher for Social Emotional Learning, will be responsible for supporting program staff in the delivery of Social and Emotional Learning opportunities and providing targeted support to selected students presently in Grades JK-4 during the five-week Summer Learning period (July 11- August 5th, 2022). The Social Worker will be assigned to one of three program sites: King Open, Morse, and Peabody.
Prior to the start of the program, Summer District Social Workers will lead the dissemination of SEL curriculum resources to CPS Summer Program Leaders, including the development of a clear referral protocol for students in need of targeted support during the summer. The District SEL Coordinators will help facilitate SEL staff training prior to the program start date.
During the Summer Learning Period, the Summer District Social Workers will work closely with the in person Summer Program Leaders in providing guidance and support to teachers including coaching, group observations and 1:1 support as needed during morning academic programming sessions. Social workers will provide social emotional support to students at their assigned school site.
Length of Contract: July 6- August 11th, 35 hours per week (with an additional 15 planning hours prior to the start of the program during the month of June)

Minimum Requirement/Job Qualifications:
The Summer 2021 District Social Workers must have a commitment to equity and have demonstrated the ability to build relationships with and effectively engage students from diverse backgrounds representing diverse learning styles and grade levels. The coordinator must have the ability to work with teachers, staff, and families in supporting students experiencing mental and behavioral health challenges, a willingness to help develop appropriate supplementary learning activities, and to maintain proper records. Appropriate certification and highly qualified status under ESSA regulations necessary. Preference will be given to regularly appointed teacher(s) and staff from the Cambridge Public School District. Contract Amount:
$36.00 per hour, Not to exceed $7,560.00
