    Psychologist Reports To: Director of Student Services, and Building Principal

    Qualifications:
    • Master Level Degree in School Psychology

    • Type 73 Certificate with School Psychologist endorsement

    • Experience in the Response to Intervention 3 Tier service delivery model including Problem Solving, data based decision making, leading as an Intervention Specialist and Progress Monitoring.

    • Knowledge and expertise in diagnostic and curriculum based assessments.

    • Experience in developing Functional Assessments of Behavior and Behavior Intervention Plans.

    • Ability to collaborate and consult on student instruction and behavior.

    • Comprehensive knowledge of special education, federal and state mandates, and rules and regulations

    • Experience with Social Emotional Learning, Positive Behavioral Supports and Interventions (PBIS).

    • Experience with preschool screenings and diagnostic assessments for early childhood.

    • Knowledge of human learning processes, human developmental processes, diverse characteristics in individuals, psychopathology and influences on human behavior and diverse family systems.

    • Ability to work successfully with diverse populations.

    • Competence in the use of technology.

    • Excellent communication skills including verbal, listening and written.

    • Positive attitude and excellent work ethic and organizational skills.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.

    • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

    • High level of professionalism and ethics.


    Responsibilities:
    • Take on a leadership role in the Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) - Response to Intervention (RtI) process as an internal coach. This includes assessing student referrals, data analysis, data based decision making, intervention planning and monitoring, student observations, Problem Solving meetings and case study evaluation referral if appropriate.

    • Use a variety of assessments to evaluate student achievement, cognitive functioning, and social, emotional and behavioral functioning.

    • Conduct preschool screenings and assessments as part of the Pre School Team.

    • Evaluate programs, interventions and the learning environment for effectiveness in student learning and functioning using evidence based research and best practices as a guideline.

    • Develop Functional Analysis of behavior and Behavior intervention Plans as needed with the special education team, general education teachers and parents.

    • Attend Team meetings for grade levels, Problem Solving, Special Education, IEP and any others as determined.

    • Consult and collaborate with teachers and staff about student learning, instruction, assessments, behavior and social emotional functioning.

    • Assist with crisis situations as needed.

    • Provide classroom, small group and individual counseling for students.

    • Communicate with parents to assist them with community referrals, on resolving interpersonal or family problems that interfere with school performance, to understand their child's academic and behavioral performance and interventions or evaluation for special education.

    • Conduct and/or plan services for staff on pertinent topics that will improve student learning, behavior and social/emotional functioning.

    • Communicate effectively with IEP teams, Problem Solving Teams, administrators and staff.

    • Write clear comprehensive reports on student evaluations, observations.

    • Deliver assessment reports at IEP eligibility meetings in a clear and parent friendly manner using visuals such as graphs and a bell curve when possible to clarify results.

    • Maintain current best practices and knowledge in the field of school psychology through professional conferences, journals and collaboration.

    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Student Services, Student Services Coordinator or the Building Principal.
