Paraeducator/Academic Support

Monday through Friday

6.5 hours per day

(180 work days; 10 paid holidays)

In accordance with Governor Inslee's Proclamation 21-14.1 (Vaccination Requirement), employment with the Elma School District requires full vaccination against Covid-19 or an approved medical or religious exemption that can be accommodated.

Responsibilities: Work with students and staff under the direction of assigned teachers per paraeducator job description.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Meets one of the following:
    • A two year Associate Degree and/or
    • 72 college quarter credits and/or 48 college credits and/or
    • A passing score of 461 on the ETS Para Pro Assessment
  • WSP/FBI Fingerprint Background/Clearance (fee paid by employee)
  • Demonstrated competence in basic academic/communication skills appropriate to site assignment
  • Positive and flexible attitude with students, staff, parents, and team members
  • Willingness to work toward successful demonstration of core competencies
  • Ability to lift up to 50-100 lbs. in two person lift/transfer
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability and willingness to assist students with physical, behavioral, developmental communication, health, or learning needs
  • Provide supervision
  • Must participate in the Fundamental Course Training to gain necessary skills to perform this position
  • Regular attendance is an essential function for this position
  • The safety and health of students and others in an essential function of this position
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working in environment related to job opening
  • Experience working with students one on one
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish
  • Work as a team player
