REQUIREMENTS:
? Works with administrators and guidance counselors to implement effective departmental programs
? Works with staff in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating new departmental programs and practices
? Recommends program plan for department to building principals and Assistant Superintendent for C&I
? Conducts studies and reviews information including test data with staff to identify student needs
? Supervises and evaluates all guidance faculty and clerical support staff
? Organizes and presents evening parent presentations, i.e., Parent University, College Information Nights, College Fairs, etc.
? Participates in the budget planning process
? Works collaboratively with the building administration to develop long-term plans with regard to curricular offerings and allocation of resources
? Coordinates guidance college travel schedules and conference attendance
? Establishes small group intervention programs with guidance staff
? Responsible for the development and management of the high school master schedule
? Assists in the recruitment and selection of department personnel
? Orients department personnel to policies and procedures
? Recommends staff assignments based on program needs and staff strengths and interests
? Assesses and recommends staff development needs in his/her area of responsibility
? Observes and evaluates staff performance in writing
? Works with building-level administrators to maintain articulation between levels and buildings
? Communicates department plans, practices and progress to staff, students, parents and the community
? Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for C & I, updates the District Guidance Plan on at least an annual basis
? Symbolizes leadership through attendance at school-sponsored events related to the department
? Maintains membership and active participation in professional associations
? Establishes and maintains working relationships with governmental agencies, community organizations and businesses
? Attends meetings called by Assistant Superintendent for C & I and/or building principal
? Performs such additional duties as may be delegated by the immediate supervisor(s) or the Superintendent of Schools

Must have NYS Certification as a School Counselor
Must met NYSED Fingerprinting requirements
