DEFINITION:
To deliver the instructional program of the Junior ROTC Program of Instruction as defined by the CG, USACC, to obtain the primary objective in developing tomorrow's leaders through a comprehensive education and training program.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:
Receives direction from the Director of Army in all matters pertaining to program administrative duties and responsibilities.

May exercise technical and functional supervision over technical and clerical staff.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

This job description is designed to illustrate the minimum requirements of the job. The performance appraisal for this position will evaluate the employee's ability to meet or exceed the minimum requirements of the job.

Experience:
Noncommissioned Officers must be retired from the Army in the grades of E-6 through E-9. Officers must be retired from the Army in the grades of W-1 through W-5 or O-3 through O-6.

Have been discharged under honorable conditions from all previous enlistments and prior military service, (Not precluding applications from active duty personnel who are eligible for retirement or are within one year of retirement).
DD Form 214 needs to be attached to application.

Education :
Equivalent to a high school diploma.

Licensure:
Possession of, or ability to obtain certification to teach Junior ROTC by the Army (HQ, USACC).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Deliver Junior ROTC course of instruction and training as prescribed by the CG, USACC
2. Utilize and implement the Program of Instruction which outlines the curriculum, including philosophies, concepts, and desired learning outcomes.
3. Maintain good relations with the school authorities, faculty and student body.
4. Conduct a public affairs program in the local area; among school and community officials, civic groups, parent-teacher groups and other individuals or groups, designed to further the understanding of the Junior ROTC program, the school, and the Army.
5. Supervise activities consistent with the conduct of the Junior ROTC program.
6. Use small group instruction and participatory learning as the primary method of instruction.
7. Strive to teach every subject as a problem to analyze, not as material to memorize.
8. In presenting doctrine contained in manuals and other publications, strive to point out the "why" as well as the "what" and "how" of the doctrine.
9. Show the relationship and emphasize the importance of leadership as it related to the subject.
10. Use those techniques and methods that will provide maximum use of class time.
11. Keep abreast of developments in educational methods, concepts and techniques in TRADOC schools, civilian secondary schools and industries.
12. Assists with enrollment of students in the JROTC program and support school officials conducting these programs.
13. As faculty members of the District, adhere to the policies and procedures of the District.
14. As representatives of the Army, adhere to the military regulations directives and policies and represents the interests of the Army.

Signing Incentive (New Classroom Teachers)
McKinley County Graduates (HS) (Any McKinley County School) $22,000
NM Graduates (HS or College) or Within Navajo Nation Boundaries $20,000
All Others $18,000

Signing Incentive
Relocation expenses for all new classroom teachers will be paid in full on the first paycheck of the school year. All other incentives will be paid out over the course of two school years (2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years) in four installments. Payment will be made ¼ in December of the first contract year, ¼ in May of the first contract year, ¼ in December of the second contract year and ¼ in May of the second contract year. The incentive will be prorated for hires made after the official work calendar start date but prior to September 1, 2022. Any hires made on or after September 1, 2022 will not be eligible to receive any of the signing incentives listed above. Failure to complete the terms of the employment contract in either of the two school years will result in the forfeiture of the entire signing incentive for that school year. SigningIncentives are effective immediately.

Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for the signing incentives, you must be a new employee who was not employed in any certified capacity by GMCS during the 2021-2022 school year.
