Athletic Director/Assistant Principal - Waukesha North High School

Waukesha North High School is seeking a highly collaborative, innovative, and energetic leader who will help build upon high academic expectations and a commitment to serving all students equitably. We seek an Assistant Principal/Athletic Director who is highly student-centered and who works well in a team to help promote our overall school improvement efforts. We seek a leader who expresses a powerful mission through positive action. Familiarity of Educator Effectiveness should drive feedback and staff development efforts. Waukesha North is a 1:1 environment. The candidate who will be offered this position will need to demonstrate his/her ability to use data and should be a digital leader who will be expected to utilize technology to contribute to the growth of the entire building. This position is responsible for accomplishing goals and objectives that are consistent with the advancement of the mission and vision of North. Serve as a building administrator, assisting in student discipline. Provide overall leadership and coordination among the various athletic, activity and extracurricular programs that provide students with worthwhile learning experiences outside of the classroom. Qualifications: Demonstrated success in an administrative capacity and/or teaching experience in a school environment. Demonstrated interest and ability to effectively serve all stakeholders within the Waukesha School District community. Demonstrated interest and ability to recruit, manage, and retain high performing coaches and advisors. Experience as a head coach at the varsity level preferred. Ability to be highly organized, accountable, and work within a diverse environment. Ability to develop and implement a vision for the athletic department that aligns with the greater vision and mission of Waukesha North HS. Maintain a professional working relationship with all staff, students, parents, and community members. Conduct all written and verbal communication in a timely, cordial, and professional manner. Provide coaching, direction, and feedback to subordinates in a timely and professional manner. Appropriate knowledge of computers and related business applications. Ability to quickly identify problems and promptly implement recommendations for solutions. Ability to regularly work extended and weekend hours as needed. Duties and Responsibilities: Develop, oversee, and promote an athletic and activities program consistent with the mission of Waukesha North High School. Promote and model a high standard of ethics, sportsmanship and personal conduct by encouraging administration, coaches, staff, student-athletes, parents and community members to commit to these high standards. Draft and maintain handbooks for both student-athletes and coaches that should include clearly defined expectations, academic standards and disciplinary procedures. Analyze problem situations and opportunities with students, coaches and parents, addressing the situation effectively and making recommendations to administration where necessary, in bringing matters to successful resolution. Conduct annual parent/guardian athletic expectation meetings. Oversee the athletic and student activities budgets, including: revenue, planning, preparing, spending, and balancing. Lead the selection process for all coaches. Supervise and develop coaches, placing an emphasis on fostering academic excellence and forming positive relationships with students. Conduct annual written performance assessments for all coaches. Organize and coordinate all events hosted by North HS, including scheduling facilities, officials, and event workers. Collaborate as the liaison for the SDW Board of Directors/Admin. Team and the North HS Athletic Booster Club. Coordinate supervision for all athletic contests hosted by North, and provide administrative supervision at high attendance events. Coordinate transportation for all athletic teams. Develop, administer, and communicate the athletic calendar including, but not limited to, game and practice schedules. Facilitate effective publication of athletic events to all constituencies, including the media. Keep accurate and current records for all team and individual accomplishments. Oversee the maintenance and inventory of all athletic equipment, facilities, and uniforms. Coordinate appropriate athletic awards and events. Serve as the representative to the Classic 8 Conference, WIAA, and all other related organizations, ensuring compliance with all rules and regulations. Provide support to student clubs and activities, recruiting advisors and developing budgets to support extracurricular and co-curricular activities. Assist the HS Admin. Team as requested or needed, including: lunch supervision and individual behavior. Oversee the Strength and Fitness area in terms of managing staff, budget, schedule, maintenance and overall operations.
