Essex Westford School District is seeking a long-term Special Educator/Learning Specialist Substitute to support the learning of all students. The position is full-time beginning 8/24 through 11/16, covering a temporary leave of absence. The position entails consulting with a vertical and grade level team, as well as evaluating and developing intervention programs with a focus on literacy, math, and behavior.

EWSD is committed to considering out-of-state candidates who are eligible to hold a Vermont educator license but do not yet hold a license in this state. Folks with experience working in another country, the ability to fluently speak more than one language, peace corp experience, and/or otherworldly experience are encouraged to apply to help contribute to a diversity of thinking and grow our organizational practices.

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
  • Valid VT educator license or the ability to obtain one with a Special Educator (3-82) or Consulting Teacher (3-85) endorsement.
  • Strong math, literacy, and/or behavior background
  • Ability to work effectively and collectively as part of a team of professionals.
  • A commitment to the belief that all children can learn and succeed in school
  • Knowledge of implementing standards-based curricula, differentiated instruction, and formative assessment in a collaborative setting
  • Candidates with experience working in schools that have successfully implemented an intervention system are desirable.
