The Knapp School is looking for an Intake Clinician, which provides, for grades K-12, a quality, comprehensive education to children with emotional and behavior disorders, in a therapeutic special education classroom setting. The Intake Clinician coordinates and complete intakes for new referrals; completes administrative duties related to intake and clinical department organization under the general supervision of the Clinical Director of TDS.

Intake Specific Duties :

  • Review referral packets
  • Schedule and conduct intake meetings
  • Maintain a tracking log with intake referral status
  • Maintain ongoing and referral specific communication with funding districts, including updating them on intake processes, informing about start dates and transportation set up, giving Knapp School contact information, gaining background case information, coordinating documents needed for enrollment, and providing any requested information.
  • Present referrals at School Leadership and Clinical Administrative Team meetings and collaborate regarding classroom placement and caseload assignment decisions.
  • Coordinate intake process and paperwork with administrators and administrative assistants, including prepping pre-admission paperwork for admin staff, organizing documents, consent paperwork, and managing enrollment data.
  • Write up intake summary and assessment and distribute per intake protocol and present updates on upcoming intakes and confirmed referrals via staff meetings.
  • Complete required intake documentation in agency systems, including needs assessment and admission diagnosis
  • Make sure student files have all pertinent student documents present
  • Meet with Principal and/or upper management to report on intake statistics
  • Coordinate Knapp School related calls with ACCESS team, including updating TDS related information presented by ACCESS.
  • Manage/refer intake cold calls/emails that come to school.
  • Represent Knapp School & Yeshiva and JCFS Chicago in a positive manner to both internal and external contacts, including maintaining district contact lists.
  • Oversee and report on a variety of compliance related items, including maintaining and reporting on clinical service delivery compliance data, follow up on utilization review requirements/corrections, and track clinical licensures within the department.
  • Maintain clinical department calendar
  • Coordinate with JCFS Chicago Development department to maintain school’s website and marketing materials
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Other Essential Clinician Job Responsibilities:

School Social Work Specific -  

  • Successfully complete training in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI); successfully complete all requirements to maintain certification in TCI.
  • Effectively intervene in student’s disruptive behavior, both verbal and physical; including using TCI prescribed methods to de-escalate critical situations.
  • Use TCI prescribed methods to manually restrain youth’s ages 6 to 20, who are a variety of heights, weights, and strength capacities, when they are physically out of control and consequently a danger to himself/herself or others. This task may involve taking the client from a standing position to the floor, deflecting and or absorbing blows, bumps, kicks, spitting and other physically aggressive acts, moving furniture and any other movable, though large and heavy objects, in order to clear a space in which the client can be safely restrained.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Experience & Abilities)

  • Master’s Degree of Social Work a plus.
  • School or clinical administrative experience preferred
  • Must be able to successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training.
  • At least 2 years of experience performing mental health assessments, social histories, and/or intake assessments, preferred
  • Proficient with creation and maintenance of Excel spreadsheets, including formula creation.

New hires would need to be fully vaccinated with 1 or 2 doses and booster and provide their card upon hire OR begin receiving the booster within 2 weeks of being hired and participate in weekly COVID testing until fully vaccinated OR provide documentation for an ADA or religious exemption and participate in weekly COVID testing.
